What it's about

15-year-old deep-thinking Welsh schoolboy Oliver Tate struggles to initiate and maintain a relationship with Jordana, his devilish, dark-haired classmate at their Swansea high school. As his parents' marriage begins to fall apart, similar problems arise in his relationship with Jordana.

The take

Awkward. That is how Oliver Tate can be described, and generally the whole movie. But it is professionally and scrutinizingly awkward. Submarine is a realistic teen comedy, one that makes sense and in which not everyone looks gorgeous and pretends to have a tough time. It is hilarious and sad, dark and touching. It is awesome and it's embarrassing, and it's the kind of movie that gets nearly everything about being a teen right, no matter where you grew up.

Comments

Loved how the narrative of the movie is shown. A basic reality for a young teenager mixed with his little dreams and fantasies. How he is caught in the dilemma of saving his life from misery. A great music score from Alex Turner helps in the flow of the movie. Definitely gives you a fell good moment after watching it.
