Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon

Despite following a man who turns into a vending machine, this anime doesn't have anything else interesting going on

TLDR

There's a crowd for this. Somewhere. I'm sure.

What it's about

A man is reincarnated as a vending machine in a fantasy world and must use his newfound abilities to survive and thrive.

The take

Being reincarnated as a vending machine is, admittedly, a good hook. But when you're watching a machine fight frogs in a new dimension, the plot starts to lose you. At its core, it's an easy watch, without any nefarious characters (yet), but even though Boxxo always finds a way to utilize the powers of his new vending machine body and has a genuine, endearing personality, the gimmick doesn't hold attention past that. It is a wholesome isekai adventure, but the vending machine-loving vending machine isn't as memorable as you'd think.

What stands out

Boxxo risking his life to save a vending machine (to then become a vending machine) is an opening that would confuse viewers long enough to keep watching. Limiting his pre-programmed response and the gamifying the point system for different powers is also nice touch that helps Boxxo in fight sequences. But these separate elements, unfortunately, don't amount to much for the entire watching experience.
