TLDR

Hope BTS fans are holding on – 2025 is coming soon!

What it's about

After having to cancel their Map of Soul concert the year before, BTS returns to Los Angeles to finally perform their Permission to Dance tour.

The take

If you’re a fan of BTS, you’ve likely already watched this concert film. Even if you’re not a fan, you’ll probably be familiar with the K-pop boy band sensation or at least heard one of their songs. But, if for some reason, you’ve been hiding under a rock, and want to figure out the hype behind the band, watching Permission to Dance on Stage is a great place to start. It’s hard not to feel hyped up when even just walking backstage is filmed like one of those epic suit-up movie moments, but the band itself easily maintains that energy with their decent singing, catchy tunes, and perfectly synced dancing, and directors Jun-Soo Park and Sam Wrench take unexpected angles that work with the stage set-up and song meanings, which we’re sure fans would appreciate.

What stands out

Coming from someone who wasn’t a fan, this was pretty cool to watch. I found the transition to Black Swan super cool, and something about the dance for Fake Love was intriguing.
