Where most streamers focus on widening their channel line-ups, Sling instead focused on customizability. Why? Well, while having a wide channel line-up makes sure that there’s something for everyone, it also means having to spend for that entire line-up, even the channels you don’t really watch. Sling recognized that it’s easier and cheaper to set a slimmer line-up while offering more specific genres through their extras. That’s what makes their plans so budget friendly.
How do they do this? Through Sling TV Extras. These Extras are optional add-ons that combine more channels of a specific interest to your base plan. There are seven Extras–Sports Extra, News Extra, Entertainment Extra, Kids Extra, Lifestyle Extra, Hollywood Extra, and Heartland Extra. You can probably guess what kind of channels are available under each based on the name. Right now, each Extra adds $6 to your monthly plan, except for Sports Extra, which costs $10.

Who can get the Sling TV Extras?
Anyone with a reliable internet connection can sign up for the Sling TV Extras, provided that you add them to any of the base plans. That’s Sling Orange, Sling Blue, Sling Orange & Blue, and Sling Select. Sling currently allows credit and debit cards, as well as digital wallets like PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay.
How do I sign up for the Sling TV Extras?
New customers can add Sling TV Extras to a base plan for their choice directly on Sling TV’s website.
If you already have a Sling plan, you can sign into your account, then select Manage in the Add-ons section. Pick and choose from the cards available. Once done, press Confirm to apply changes.
How much do you pay for the Sling TV Extras?
Each Extra, except for the Sports Extra, costs an additional $6/month to your plan. Sports Extra costs $10/month.
If you would like to combine the Kids, News, Lifestyle, and Entertainment Extras, you can choose to pick their 4 Extras deal for just $13/month instead of $24. Alternatively, Sling’s Total TV Deal combines all seven Extras into one bundle for just $21/month.
Do all the Sling TV Extras have a free trial?
Unfortunately, Sling TV doesn’t offer a free trial for any of their plans or their Extras at this time.

Do the Sling TV Extras come with local channels?
No, the Extras don’t add any local channels to your plan. If you’re looking for local channels, you should combine the Extras with Sling Blue, Sling Orange and Blue, or Sling Select. Depending on your zip code, Sling provides access to your local ABC, NBC, or Fox channel.
Are there add-ons other than the Sling TV Extras?
Yes. Other than the Sling TV Extras, which add more live TV channels to your plan, you can add streaming services a la carte on top of any base plan. Currently, Sling offers subscriptions to on-demand streamers like HBO Max, Paramount+, AMC+, Starz, and Discovery+.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your Sling plan, along with any extras, at any time. Once you cancel your plan, you still have access until the end of your billing period.
