Heading out for college? If you’re moving out for the first time, or if you’ve been on campus for a while, you know that you’ll have to learn to manage your budget wisely. You have to save up, compare prices, and track your expenses. But before you decide to cut back on spending, perhaps you should first check out what you can get student discounts on. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly live TV streaming plan, try looking into Sling TV. We’ve listed all the details that you need to know.

Does Sling TV offer a student discount?

Yes, Sling offers a promotional discount for students. For six months, students get $10 off their total bill. This discount is applicable for Sling Orange, Sling Blue, and Sling Orange + Blue plans.

How to claim the discount, step by step

7. Press “Get student deal” to go to this page. Log in, get your unique discount code, then finally, sign up for Sling. We suggest using the same personal email address that you used for Student Beans.

Which Sling plan should students get?

If you’re looking for a live TV plan only for yourself, Sling Orange is the way to go. While you can only stream one screen at a time, you can enjoy sports channels as long as you have a reliable internet connection. Sling Orange costs $45.99/month.

Looking to stay up-to-date with your local channels? Sling Blue might be the better choice. You stream on three devices at the same time and keep up with all the latest news and entertainment channels. Sling Blue starts at $45.99/month, but depending on the local channels in your area, the programming fees hike up the price to $49.99 to $54.99.

Can’t decide? You can always choose Sling Orange & Blue, which combines both plans. Sling Orange & Blue normally retails at $60.99, but currently Sling offers the combo at 50% off, or $29.99/month.

What channels do you actually get?

Sling Orange hosts 30+ live channels, most of which come from Disney. Disney owns channels like ESPN, ESPN 2, and of course, Disney Channel, making Sling Orange best for sports fans.

Sling Blue, on the other hand, has a line-up of 40+ news and entertainment channels, some of which would be your local ABC, NBC, and Fox. This includes channels like Bravo, Discovery, and USA.

Sling Orange & Blue combines both channel line-ups.

Does the discount renew every month?

Yes, this $10 discount renews every month for the first six months. After six months, the discount expires and you automatically pay full price for whichever plan you choose.

Note: Make sure that your Student Beans account remains verified. You’ll have to reverify your account every academic year. Also as per their terms of use, Sling reserves the right to change or alter their promos without notice. We suggest you check your payment every month, just to make sure.

FAQ

Can you get a Sling student discount without a university email?

Yes, as long as you have a StudentBeans account. The university email is the fastest way to get verified, since you can simply click on the verification link sent to your email address. But if you don’t have a university account, there are other options you can try. Return to the verification page, scroll down and click “Use a different method”.

There are two methods you can use. The first option is through your learning portal, and the second is the upload proof.

The first option is through your learning portal. Launch the portal to log in, and your institution will verify you.

Alternatively, you can apply by uploading proof of enrollment. This includes documents like your student ID card, your acceptance letter, your academic transcript, or a screenshot of your online student portal showing your enrollment details.

Note: these documents have to be directly issued by the institution you are currently enrolled in. Cards like the ISIC are not applicable for your student ID. These documents should show your full name, the full name of the university you are attending, and should be valid for the current academic year.

If you recently graduated, you can apply for Grad Beans with a scan of your diploma or proof of completion of a Bachelors, Masters, apprenticeship, or a 12-month long professional course, dated within the last five years.

Does the Sling student discount stack up with other promotions?

No, the Sling Student Beans discount can’t be stacked up with other promotions, as of the moment.

Can you cancel anytime on the student plan?

Yes, you can cancel your plan any time. Once you cancel, your access to Sling remains until the end of your billing period. However, once you cancel your plan and decide to resubscribe, you won’t be able to regain the promotional pricing since it’s only available for new users.
