Based on a true story, Darin J. Sallam’s controversial debut feature Farha is, at heart, a brutal coming-of-age film. Set in 1948, the film is about a girl who gets locked into her family’s storeroom at the start of the Nakba, the Palestinian Catastrophe. Sallam’s choice to limit most of the film’s perspective to that small storeroom is brilliant – in some ways, it echoes the surrounding discussion about the conflict. Most of what the world knows of Palestine is limited due to having to deal with censorship, lost records, and only hearing word-of-mouth stories from ancestors who just barely survived. But what we see is already too horrific to begin with. And what the film knows is the tragedy of losing your home - having to leave childhood, leave your dreams, and leave a vibrant and living culture in order to survive.
Everyone should watch it it is a different from other movies and has a history behind it maybe we will be more compassionate to each other
Farha is a well represented movie of truthfulness showing genuine side of Palestinian. This movie is based on a historical storyline worth noting and of some never being told in mass media. A critical film worth spending time and money watching.
Educational, sad and beautiful at the same time. I didn’t know how rich and cohesive their culture is, nor how it was taken over. A must watch for everyone.
Great movie, a must watch. Nothing but the truth!!!!
is the movie that the whole world needs to watch to break through the lies told by Netanyahu and all his ambassador puppets. Begin here to learn the truth about the way Israel Israel has abused millions of people trapped in the open air prison it created for inhumane purposes. Israel can not stop the truth from coming out. The US and the UK are all dancing with the devil. Push for change. It’s in our hands! Watch this movie to learn
A very good representation of the Nakba of 1948. Brought tears for me as so ma
ny times the truth of colonial occupation is not accurately depicted. More movies like this need to demonstrate how humans can be programmed to think of other as less than and our governments perpetuate lies told to push an agenda
This movie is undeniably a striking amalgamation of knowledge, sadness, and pure aesthetics. It goes beyond simply enlightening viewers about the profoundness and togetherness of their cultural legacy, and instead plunges deep into the profoundly heart-rending narrative of how it was eventually repressed. Without a doubt, it is an absolute imperative for people from every imaginable background to experience and appreciate.
Must watch movie..it shows the reality of Palestinians pure heart
Loved this film. Historically accurate- a good film to watch in these times
Un filme poignant de sincérité et de vérité historique. A voir absolument.
Excellent movie . Shows realities of Israeli genocide
Great movie based on true story. Can’t believe humans can do this and this is just one of millions of suffering!
Respect ! Total respect to the Director, Cast, Music , and Cinography .
As for the reality of the story … what to say … well … the story and its brutality is still going on and on untill today . We are in 2024 . Will there ever be justice ? Fingers Crossed x.
Absolute eye opener, Educational, sad and beautiful at the same time. I didn’t know how rich and cohesive the Palestinian culture is… and how it was taken over by the Zionists. A must watch for everyone.
An amazing story. I couldn’t stop watching till the end. Very well made. It depicts the true story of the Palestinian Nakba showing the kindness of the Palestinians reciprocated by brutality and savagery. It happened in 1948 and ironically happening again in 2023.
I loved this movie. It’s historically accurate. Would recommend to watch.
Très beau film! Poignant, à voir absolument pour comprendre l’injustice subie depuis des décennies par les palestiniens !
Great movie, a must watch to understand palestinian’s suffering since 1948. So touching
Ce drame de 1948 continue aujourd’hui pour les Palestiniens. Il faut voir ce film pour comprendre qui sont les vrais victimes!
The tale of Farha is not only a tale of the destruction of Palestinian life caused by the Nakba. It is a sensitive and beautiful portrait of traditional village life and the dreams of a young girl who desires an education beyond that provided to girls by the village Sheikh as well as a destiny beyond marriage. No one should miss this portrait of Palestine in 1948.
Although the film begins at a time of turmoil, the traditional harvest by the women of the village is shown while Farha reads a book. Her father, as mayor, is asked to join the fighters but hesitates. A traditional betrothal is shown, and the viewer becomes aware of Farha’s indifference to a marriage arrangement and her own ambition to study at a school in the city. It is against this backdrop that the violence and destruction of the Nakba begins to unfold.
The inclusion of traditional harvest and betrothal songs are beautiful details and offer a counterpoint to the horror of the events of 1948.
Great movie that touches your heart & soul. ????
Hard to believe how humans could act worse than animals but truly portrayed the atrocities of Israeli soldiers towards Palestinians!
True story about the horrors of 1948 that was beautifully depicted in this movie and gives a peek on the life of millions of people suffering due to Israel’s barbarism!
This movie is a must to see it really helps to understand what is currently happening now. I loved it so much kudos to the director.
It’s staggering how people who suffered from the worst crimes are committing themselves genocide against the Palestinian people. Zionism cannot and should not survive. The Jewish people should stand up against Israel.
Brilliant movie, an eye opener to the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime. History is repeating itself. The stories shared by my grandparents are brought to life in this movie, unfortunately.. the sad truth. Everyone should watch this movie to realize the depth of the scars created by the zionist project.
A really good movie, eye opening.. depicting the truth of the nakba..
A must see! Sad and emotional roller coaster as it is based on the truth which is unfortunately still going on and we are witnessing as helpless watchers! If anyone thinks they have a hard life, this will make you think twice. Compliments to the lead role, and director and best of luck for being selected at the Oscars! Free Palestine now!!!!!!
Absolutely beautiful. Living reality. I watched it several times. I recommend every one to see it. It is a revealing story. I give it all thumbs up.
It was an epic true story that happened in tte 1948 Naqba. Very true and compelling movie that depicts hiw the poor Palestinians who are tye owners of the land were annihilated. Thrirlives destroyed killed enmass. This was a Genocide committed by the Zionist Regime. One cannot believe what these Jewish monsters from Eastern Europe came to put shit in Palestine and kicked out the real indigenous people of the land and turned them into refugees from their own homeland. These murderous imbeciles caused so much mayhem that one cannot believe that these very same people who were killed by tte Germans were capable of inflicting the same brutality and even surpass that of the Nazi Germany.I recommend highly this movie. I GIVE IT 10 STARS.
This is a movie about Naqaba. The devastation that occurred in 1948. I had read about the Palestinian history over the years but this movie made me cry. It’s hard to believe that the Jews from all over the Eastern Europe gathered and were helped by British to move to Palestine and steal their land by force. It’s an absolutely beautiful. Living reality. I watched it several times. I recommend every one to see it. It is a revealing story. It explains how Jews have continued the atrocities on indigenous Arab population ever since. Palestinians have been placed in walled Worlds Largest Concentration Camp. More than 26000 innocent civilians have been slaughtered and twice as many injured with very serious injuries.
Great movie sad that History is repeating itself
A brilliant movie, I suggest a 9/9 rating, a must watch! This is a true version of the horrendous events of Palestine Nakba 1948. This movie makes you understand the effect and outcome of the Zionist atrocities on Palestinians, destruction of lives, displacement, and massacres… continuous airstrikes and bombardments, white Phosphorus is rained on innocent civilians, Palestinians still suffer due to Zionist terrorism, it’s the truth.
A must see movie that helps to understand the suffering and the tragedy of Palestinian people since 1948 The Nakba. Based on a true story, the movie is a reflection not only of the disaster from the past time but also of what is happening currently and basically since 1948. Brilliant acting, beautiful cinematography, great director. Story is a living reality, brutally emotional, sad and trilling. A rating of 10/10 for me.
