Our take
After accidentally hitting a homeless man with his car on the way to his mother’s wedding, Detective Ko Gun-su is certainly having A Hard Day. No one would blame him if he took the next day off and took some time for himself. However, he doesn’t do that. Instead, he reacts so differently, leading to a series of increasingly chaotic consequences. It makes for an unpredictable crime thriller, finding some humor in the way he continues to dig himself further into trouble, while cathartically letting karma play out with each morally dubious action. A Hard Day is so fun to watch.

The story
After trying to cover up a car accident that left a man dead, a crooked homicide detective is stalked by a mysterious man claiming to have witnessed the event.
Elsewhere
"Its depiction of oppression in an out-of-whack, past-tense America calls to mind the country’s current-day political pathologies. “Don’t Worry Darling” serves that purpose with a cleverness to match its focussed sense of outrage."
— Richard Brody
