Safety Not Guaranteed 2012

Our Take (by Mostafa Mohammed)

A quirky little movie about a reporter trying to get a story about a man who posted an ad looking for someone to travel in time with. The movie’s main strength is the fantastic casting of talents that usually live in the series world (Jake M. Johnson from New Girl, Aubery Plaza from Parcs and Recreation, Mark Duplass), and although it might seem a little bit slow at the beginning, it is worth every second spent watching it.

Notable Critics

"Few films so gloriously live up to their potential."

— Jessica Lambert

"A small movie with a big heart, Safety Not Guaranteed is a sci-fi-tinged oddball comedy about love as the ultimate risky adventure."

— Justin Chang

Comments

  1. I really dug this movie. As mentioned above it opens a bit slow, but I thought this made it effective as it kind of catches you off guard once it transitions into something more intense. And I loved the ending (and Aubrey Plaza).

  2. This is my favorite movie of all time. Jake Johnson is hilarious and his journey is tender. Mark Duplass is pure cut and his journey is tender. Aubrey Plaza is the opposite of most women today and … yep!
