High Potential2024

7.6/10
This weekly series gives the police procedural a fresh and funny twist

High Potential isn’t the smartest thing out there, despite Morgan’s impressive 160 IQ. It’s also not the quirkiest of its kind (hello, Elsbeth!). But it’s undeniably enjoyable, thanks in large part to Olson, who injects her character with so much wit, charm, and tenderness. Played wrong, Morgan could’ve been yet another annoying Sherlock-type, but in Olson’s capable hands, she’s anything but. It’s still too early to tell whether the surrounding characters will match her infectious energy, but I am seated and excited for more to come.

Synopsis

Morgan is a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective.

Storyline

After displaying Sherlock-level deduction skills, single mom Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) is recruited as a consultant by the LAPD. They learn to trust her unconventional methods while Morgan, in turn, helps them solve difficult cases.

TLDR

If you’re sick of self-serious detective shows, give this one a try.

What stands out

I’m just so happy Olson is finally given the space to flex her versatile acting chops.
