Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Dir. John Hughes · United States of America · English

What he really wanted was to spend Thanksgiving with his family. What he got was three days with the turkey.

What happens

An irritable marketing executive, Neal Page, is heading home to Chicago for Thanksgiving when a number of delays force him to travel with a well meaning but overbearing shower curtain ring salesman, Del Griffith.

What the critics said

Notable Critics

"Man versus technology has been one of the staples of screen comedy since the earliest silent days, and Hughes makes the most of the format here packing as many of the frustrations of modern life as he can into this calamitous travelog of roadside America."
