TLDR

I can't be the only one who's missed the "anyone could have powers" genre, right?

What it's about

Moving is a coming-of-age action fantasy drama about a group of teenagers with extraordinary abilities who go head-to-head with some of the world's most powerful governments.

The take

Based on a webtoon, Moving is for the fans of the '06 series, Heroes. Initially, we follow a teen, Kim Bong-Seok, who has to be constantly tied down or weighed down to keep from spontaneously levitating. But the mystery and thrills immediately kick off when an assassin starts killing "retired" supers, and it becomes obvious that agencies, parents, and even teachers are aware of this. So far, the pacing allows for introductions, backstories, and action to breathe whilst quickly establishing connections between storylines to feed the intrigue. Hopefully, this carries through the entire 20-episode run and delivers a cohesive, high-action fantasy series.

What stands out

The episodic reveals so far may feel slow for some, but with so many motives at play, the crumbs give the story some breadth. Having the webtoon creator working on the series was undoubtedly the magic behind it all. Finding out Bong-Seok can fly feels normal when you realize there are staff at the school that know about the powers, and there are hints that having powers may be hereditary. Even connections between seemingly "normal" characters dissolve the illusion that there are only a few key players. In the realm of a large cast, high-concept speculative shows, it's so far, so good.
