A classic revenge K-drama where a high school graduate infiltrates an accounting firm

Our Take (by Kerine Wint)

Big, wealthy corporations (and families) taking advantage of the working class is the catalyst of many K-drama revenge plots. This one sees Jang Ho-woo devise a plan to infiltrate the accounting firm whose actions led to his adoptive father committing suicide. Surprisingly, Ho-woo is hired straight after high school, catching the attention of the VP’s son, Han Seung-jo. Although most accounting terms go in one ear and out the other, the tension, stakes, and relentless climb to the top are always crystal clear. As the scope of the corporation unfolds, rooting for Ho-woo’s triumph is a solid hook, even if it’s a given.

Synopsis

A high-achieving high school graduate, battles for justice at South Korea’s most reputable accounting firm.

More about it

What happens

After losing a loved one, Jang Ho-woo joins the accounting firm responsible to enact his revenge.

What sets it apart

Choi Jin-hyuk excels as the cold, jaded son of the Vice President, burdened by an unknown but heavy hatred of his father. He balances a scowl and subtle intrigue in every frame without looking cartoonish. How Han Seung-Jo plans to use Jang Ho-Woo (unaware of Ho-Woo's revenge) is still a mystery. But after releasing his vitriol in a tense elevator scene with his father, it's hard to look away from the havoc bound to ensue.

TL;DR

I don't need to understand accounting to know it's the final countdown to some sweet revenge.
